This document tells you exactly what data we gather when you use our site, the reasons we gather it, who we may share it with, and the choices available to you. We have written it to be read — not just filed away.
About EMI Checker
EMI Checker is a free financial resource based at emichecker.com. We build and maintain EMI calculators, loan repayment tools, and plain-language guides covering topics like interest rates, borrowing costs, and debt planning. Everything on the site exists to help you understand your finances better — at no charge and without requiring you to register an account.
Because our tools are informational rather than transactional, the data we handle is minimal. This policy covers every page and feature currently available on emichecker.com.
Data We Collect
Comments
Our comment sections invite readers to share questions and perspectives. When you post a comment, we record your chosen display name, your email address, the text of your comment, your IP address, and the browser and device details your connection sends automatically. We use this to review submissions before publishing and to guard against spam or abusive content.
Your email address is never shown publicly. An anonymised string derived from it may be forwarded to Gravatar solely to check whether you have a profile image linked to that address. If a matching image exists and your comment is published, the image may appear beside your name.
Uploaded Images
If you upload an image through any part of the site, that image file may carry embedded metadata — including GPS coordinates recorded by your camera or phone. This metadata can potentially be read by anyone who downloads the image. We strongly recommend stripping location data from images before uploading them. Free tools for doing this are widely available for all major operating systems.
Calculator Inputs
Numbers you enter into our EMI or loan calculators are processed entirely within your browser. We do not send those figures to our servers or store them anywhere.
Cookies
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Cookies allow sites to remember choices you have made and to understand how pages are being used. EMI Checker uses the following types:
Convenience Cookies
When you leave a comment and choose to save your details, your name, email address, and website URL are stored in cookies on your device. These cookies are set to expire after twelve months. Their only purpose is to spare you from retyping your details the next time you comment.
Functional Cookies
Short-lived session cookies may be used to verify that your browser is working correctly with our site. These are temporary and are automatically removed when you close your browser tab.
Advertising Cookies
Our advertising partners — including Google — may place cookies on your device to power the ads shown on our pages. Details are covered in the Advertising section below.
Managing Cookies
Every major browser lets you view, block, or delete cookies through its settings. You can also use your browser in private or incognito mode to avoid persistent cookies entirely. Some features of our site may not work as intended if you block all cookies.
Analytics
We use web analytics software to understand which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, and which tools are most useful. This information is collected in aggregate — meaning it is combined across all visitors and cannot be used to identify any individual person.
Analytics data informs decisions about which content to expand, which pages need improvement, and how to make the site load faster. It is never used for profiling or marketing.
Advertising
Running EMI Checker as a free resource is supported in part by advertising revenue. We display ads through Google AdSense and may also work with other certified advertising networks from time to time.
How Google AdSense Works
Google and its advertising partners use cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to deliver ads that are relevant to each visitor. These cookies track visits to emichecker.com and to other websites you have browsed, allowing Google to tailor the ads it shows you. This information is processed by Google in accordance with its own privacy terms and does not include your name, email address, or other directly identifying details held by us.
Opting Out of Personalised Ads
You are not required to receive personalised advertising. The following tools let you review your ad preferences or opt out entirely:
You can also disable personalised advertising directly within your Google account, or block advertising cookies through your browser settings as described in the Cookies section above.
Embedded Third-Party Content
Certain articles or pages on our site may include content pulled in from external providers — for example, a YouTube video, an interactive chart, or a data widget. When that embedded content loads in your browser, the provider’s servers are contacted directly.
From a data perspective, loading embedded content is equivalent to visiting the provider’s own website. Those providers may set their own cookies, record your IP address, and track how you interact with their content. EMI Checker has no control over what those third parties collect or how they use it. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any third-party services whose content you interact with.
How We Use Your Data
Data collected through this site is used only for the following purposes:
- Reviewing and publishing reader comments
- Detecting and blocking spam and automated abuse
- Maintaining the security and stability of the site
- Understanding how our tools and content are used, so we can improve them
- Displaying contextually relevant advertisements through our ad partners
- Meeting any legal obligations that apply to our operations
Affiliate Links
Some pages on EMI Checker contain affiliate links to financial products or services. When you follow one of these links and complete an action — such as applying for a loan or signing up for a service — the relevant company may pay us a referral fee. This costs you nothing extra.
Affiliate arrangements have no bearing on what we recommend or how we evaluate products. Our calculators and editorial content represent our honest, independent assessment of the options available to you.
Data Retention
Comments and the metadata attached to them — such as the name, email address, and IP address of the person who submitted them — are retained indefinitely by default. This helps us recognise returning commenters and approve their submissions more smoothly in future.
If we introduce user accounts at a later date, account holders will be able to access, amend, and delete their stored information through a dedicated settings page, except where retention is needed for security or legal reasons.
Your Rights
Depending on the country or region you are in, you may be entitled to some or all of the following rights with respect to personal data we hold about you:
- The right to know what data we hold and how it is used
- The right to have inaccurate data corrected
- The right to have your data deleted (the “right to be forgotten”)
- The right to restrict or object to certain types of processing
- The right to receive a copy of your data in a portable format
- The right to withdraw consent you have previously given
To make a request under any of these rights, please write to us through the contact page on our website. We will acknowledge your request within a reasonable period and do our best to resolve it promptly.
Children
Our website is aimed at adults seeking financial guidance and is not designed for or directed at anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If it comes to our attention that a child has submitted personal data through our site, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
Policy Updates
We may revise this Privacy Policy when our services change, when relevant laws are updated, or when we adjust our internal practices. Revised versions will always be published on this page with a new effective date shown at the top. Continuing to use EMI Checker after a revision is published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
If we make any changes that significantly alter how we handle personal data, we will highlight those changes clearly on this page for a reasonable period after they take effect.
